What is FAGD? The letters stand for “Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry.” The Academy of General Dentistry is the second largest dental organization with over 35,000 active dentists being members. Less than 5%  take the 500 hours of additional rigorous courses and pass the daylong qualifying examination to earn the designation. It is an accomplishment of which we are very proud.

"Fellowship was created more than 50 years ago to honor those who clearly recognized and embraced the professional obligation to remain current in their knowledge and skills in order to insure delivery of the highest quality oral healthcare and to better serve our patients. Fellowship in the academy of general dentistry has evolved today into the most recognizable designation within the dental profession of commitment to continuing education, and it serves as a model by which to measure professional excellence.

Through hard work and sacrifice, all fellows have demonstrated their commitment to a professional responsibility we all incur upon entering the dental profession. That is, the professional responsibility to maintain our knowledge and skills at the highest possible levels, and continue the educational process uninterrupted. Fellows who accept this highly regarded credential of professional excellence realize it comes the additional responsibilities and expectations. They celebrate their accomplishments and are prepared to continue their journey of professional excellence."
